Thanks for visiting my blog! The Kitchen Faerie was created out of my desire to share my love and passion for food with the cyber world, and more recently a jumping point for my new freelance catering endeavor. If you need catering for private events or custom order baked goods or meals, please see the custom orders page! I offer many specialty diet options, as well as more traditional American home cooking. I have been cooking and baking for years, and have recently started a Primal lifestyle after reading Mark Sisson’s The Primal Blueprint. The premise is to model our diet and daily life after our ancestors–the cavemen. For all those fad dieters out there, it is very similar to the Paleo diet, although does not exclude dairy.

Now I know what you’re thinking: who wants to read a blog about diet food? Not me! Being someone who LIVES to eat, I have never been a fan of diets. The Primal lifestyle, however, is focused on eliminating all of the processed and synthetic foods that have been introduced to our world, including the products of modern-day agriculture like wheat, grains, corn and even legumes. The intent is to get rid of those modern day foods that spike our insulin levels, leaving us feeling bloated and sluggish, and to return to eating the delicious natural products created by mother nature herself.

The majority of the recipes shared here will be my adaptations of my favorite home-cooked meals into a primal-approved creation. But let’s be real! After a lifetime of feasting on gourmet pasta dishes from my Italian dad, I WILL have my cheat days every now and then. And in that case, you’ll be getting the inside scoop on some coveted family recipes!
